A talented ballerina has won a place at one of Europe's most prestigious dance schools.
Rebecca Stead was just one of 38 out of 400 accepted for professional dance training at the Central School of Ballet in London.
Dancing since she was three years old, Rebecca is completing a three year B A Honours degree course in Professional Dance and Performance.
Along with being recognised as one of Europe's premier schools, Central is the only dance school in England to offer this unique ballet-focused qualification.
Rebecca (18) of Barnoldswick is a former pupil of Skipton Girls' High School where she passed 16 GCSEs and five AS levels. She then went on to study dance at the Norther Ballet Academy in Leeds.
Rebecca, who is almost at the end of her first year at Central, said: “I am really enjoying my first year at Central School of Ballet.
"It's been hard work but fun too. We train at least six hours a day during the week and take classes on Saturday morning as well.
"You have to be dedicated to make it to the top of this profession and it's my dream to be a dancer at one of the world’s leading dance companies when I graduate.
"The training is very challenging, similar to the training of the best athletes, but we are all motivated by the rewards of performing."
The main focus of the course is Classical Ballet supported by Contemporary Dance as an additional subject, and also includes tuition in Choreography, Spanish Dance, Pilates, Jazz Dance, Drama, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Singing and Contextual Studies.
During her final year Rebecca will join the school's touring company Ballet Central which visits various cities around the country on a nationwide tour.
Touring with this unique student ballet company offers a professional performance experience that is not available through any other dance school on such a scale.
Heidi Hall who is the Director of Central Ballet, said: "We are the only vocational ballet school able to offer our students an Honours Degree and this level of touring experience, performing regularly to sell-out audiences.
"This experience, performing in a range of theatres and in different cities, means that Ballet Central continues to be a springboard for hundreds of dancers into the top international dance companies.
"Dancers live to perform so touring is a much anticipated part of our three year curriculum.”
