Nursery staff rowed over 100 miles for a worthy cause... without leaving the same spot.

Sixteen members of staff at the Toddle In, Colne, manned a rowing machine from 7-30am to 5pm as part of their efforts for Children in Need.

Tots at the nursery in Brook Street played their part by taking part in a bake sale and a day when they had to wear as many items with spots on as possible as a salute to Pudsey Bear and his spotty eye bandage. The nursery also held a whacky hair day.

Leanne Birtwistle, who works in the office at the nursery, said: “We always like to do something special for Children in Need and this year the row was a real challenge for us.

“We managed to keep someone rowing constantly all day and we have asked parents to sponsor us and make donations for Children in Need.”

Afterwards, staff reckoned they clocked up an amazing 110 miles with their rowing efforts.
