Shocking footage showing Colne thugs trying to shake a cat out of a tree so it could be attacked by dogs has been released by an animal welfare charity.
Last week, we reported that Joshua Varey (24), of Duke Street, Paul Ashworth (49), of Hawley Street, and Shaun Mullins (22), of Leach Street, pleaded guilty to offences against the Badger Act and the Animal Welfare Act.
This followed an 18 month investigation by the RSPCA and Colne Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Now, a 43-second clip, recorded on Varey’s mobile phone, has been released by the RSPCA.
It shows the offenders climbing and shaking a tree, in a bid to get a terrified cat down to the ground. In the background, laughter can be heard.
Sgt Kim De Curtis said: “This has been a hot topic in Colne for quite a while, and while we have informed the public where able what operations and action we have been taking - some of it we have had to keep to ourselves due to this pending investigation.”
