100 Santas to descend on pubs in Fence

DRINKERS will think Christmas has come early this year when they see not one, not two, but almost 100 Santas in local pubs tomorrow!

The Sparrowhawk in Fence is hosting the Fence Santa Walk to raise money for Pendleside Hospice, and what better way to make a difference to someone's life and pay homage to Santa's favourite tipple, than to go on a pub crawl.

These Santa Claus and Clausettes will be found propping up the bar in the Sparrowhawk with a glass of sherry from 7 p.m. before making their way through the village, popping in at neighbouring points on the way, including the Harpers Inn and Fence Gate.

And they want you to join them.

Everyone is invited to go and spread some festive cheer, and whether you dress up or not, you can still make a donation.

Specially-made badges will be on sale from behind the bar at participating venues for 2.50, and all money raised will go to the hospice.

The walk has been organised by local men and Sparrowhawk drinkers, Kevin and Steve, who have already managed to get 100 confirmed Santas on the walk.

To coincide with the walk, staff at the pub will also join in with the festive shannigans, dressing up and collecting money throughout the night.

So put your Christmas hat on and get some change in your pocket, and make a jolly good night of it.
