Burnley mother and daughter hurt in Brierfield crash

A MOTHER and five-year-old daughter were hurt when their car overturned after colliding with the rear of a parked car.

The accident happened on Burnley Road, Brierfield, at 1-30 p.m. today, close to the Dixy Chicken restaurant.

Police were forced to close off Burnley Road, Brierfield, and Colne Road, Reedley, between Windermere Avenue and Halifax Road for around an hour.

The 32-year-old driver and her daughter, from Burnley, were both wearing seatbelts when their red Mercedes overturned. The pair only suffered minor injuries.

They were taken to Burnley General Hospital by the ambulance crew for treatment.

Firefighters were called to the scene but were not required to cut the victims out.
