police have launched a witness appeal after an accident which saw a car turn on its side and the two male occupants taken to hospital.

The accident occurred at the junction of Dent Street and Burnley Road, Colne, at 3-34 p.m. on Sunday. It is thought the driver of the BMW car was travelling down Dent Street when he lost control of the vehicle and it collided with fencing before turning on its side.

Fire-fighters attended the scene and cut the men, both said to be in their late 20s, free. They were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Burnley Road was closed for a short time while investigation work was carried out and the BMW removed. Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call PC Prescott on 472542.
