LETTER: Not time to change

Have your say

WHILE many of us – including loyal Liberal Democrats and Conservatives – may not be entirely happy with the national Coalition Government, most of us should be well satisfied with the achievements of the Conservative-led Lancashire County Council.

It seems to me it would make no sense at all to seek to change the status quo at next May’s county council elections purely to satisfy political egos. To do so would be counter-productive, particularly in the present difficult economic situation. After more than 20 years of Labour’s tax and waste, we are now benefiting from some real common sense at LCC and I, for one, fully appreciate what they have done.

In the West Craven Division, represented by the hard-working and fully committed County Coun. Keith Bailey, we are especially fortunate. Apart from his county-wide responsibilities in health and education, here in Barnoldswick and Earby, he has secured long-awaited investment of £6.2 million in West Craven High Technology College, secured £7.5 million for a new Church of England school, provided support of almost £1,500 for the local jobs fairs and provided £8,000 in support grants for local voluntary groups, including both Barnoldswick and Earby Cricket Clubs.

We should recognise the excellent work that has been and continues to be done on our behalf at County Hall and ensure that our heads rule our political hearts next May.
