Our Lottery windfall was supposed to be secret

I, along with my colleagues, was very surprised to read about our grant from the Lottery in Leader-Times Newspapers in an article which appears to have come from Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson.

Our surprise is not because we were unaware of this wonderful news but because we had been requested by the Lottery to keep this information secret until an official announcement on April 1st. As you can imagine, this has been difficult when we would rather be shouting about our good fortune from the rooftops!

Our concern on this matter is twofold. Firstly, there has been a breach of confidence, and secondly, the groups named in the article and largely run by volunteers are being used to make party political news. I have written to Mr Stephenson about this and look forward to his reply.

In the meantime, Clarion House extends its warm welcome to visitors old and new in what is now our 102nd year.
