Skipper Luke Hodgson’s 68 proved in vain as Barnoldswick lost out to in-form Oswaldtwistle Immanuel on Saturday in their cup semi-final dress rehearsal.

Immanuel continue to push Clitheroe and Settle as the division’s form side, and their latestrun triumph came at Barnoldswick’s expense, with Dan Sartori making 84 out of 235-9 before Barlick made 189-7 chasing a revised total of 208.

Matthew Roberts (23) and Andrew Metcalf (13) put on 34 for the first wicket, before Barlick saw off the pair in quick succession, with Kyle Marshall involved in both dismissals, claiming the wicket of Metcalf before snaring Roberts off Mohammed Saffii.

That brought Sartori to the crease, and he shared partnerships of 30, 42 and then 89, with Alexander Kelly, before Marshall bowled the latter for a 36-ball 43.

Sartoro was eventually seventh man out at 231 for 84, off 74 balls.

Rain reduced Barnoldswick’s target to 208. The top order all got starts for Barlick. Matt Nutter crashed 19 off 13 ballsalongside the more studied Abdul Saddique, who stuck around for 31 deliveries for his 16.

Brother Umar also made 16, and Marshall 22 at virtually a run a ball, before Hodgson produced a captain’s knock.

However, he found little in the way of support, before being trapped in front for a 67-ball 68, as Barlick fell just short.

Meanwhile, Earby were on the wrong end of the highest score of the day as Padiham hit 278-7, helped by 59 from Jordan Baczkiewicz, 64 by Brannon Varley and Nathan Whitehead’s 73 from 66 balls.

Jake Hargreaves took 3-54 and Chris Walton 2-44.

In reply, Earby mustered 142, of which opening batsman Walton contributed 49 off 70 balls.

Ryan Sumner, batting in five, added 22, but Earby had no answer to Whitehead, who rounded off a man of the match performance with 4-34 off 8.3 overs, while Curtis Meehan returned 4-26 off seven.

This weekend, Barnoldswick host Great Harwood tomorrow before a trip to Oswaldtwistle in the cup, while Earby are at home to Brinscall tomorrow, and Settle on Sunday in the cup.
