Babar shines on debut for Barrowford

DESPITE the poor weather, Barrowford managed to complete their opening fixture of the season in the First Division of the Craven and District Cricket League as they hosted Bradley at the Bul Holme Oval.

Barrowford won the toss and elected to field, a decision which was instantly vindicated as D. Flounders removed J. Heseltine with the first ball of the innings.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Bradley were dismissed for 96.

Debutant J. Babar was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 5-21.

C Tempest provided some resistance for the visitors, making 47.

Barrowford made short work of the chase, reaching the target for the loss of only two wickets and with 16 overs to spare.

L. Roberts started the season in impressive fashion as he finished on 51 not out.

Barrowford Cricket Club would like to thank the Lamb Club for their match ball sponsorship this week.

Unfortunately, the second team fixture away at Gargrave was abandoned.
