Barnoldswick Town went down 2-0 at FA Vase quarter-finalists Glossop North End on Wednesday night.

Stewart Airdrie’s men went behind a minute into the second half as Jason Carey gave the hosts the lead.

And midway through the half, Glossop gave themselves a two-goal cushion when Ben Richardson struck.

Town are at home to 1874 Northwich tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Town’s East Lancashire League side went down 1-0 at home to Colne United on Saturday.

Town came into the game with two straight wins under their belt, and they started well with a series of excellent attacking moves which should have returned a commanding lead.

It was Colne who provided the breakthrough in the 30th minute though, with a stunning 30-yard piledriver which gave the keeper no chance.

The home side were not quite as dominant in the second half but still created and squandered more than enough chances to win the game comfortably.

The main chance came in the 60th minute when David Jones was fouled in the penalty area but Kyle Crawforth was unable to convert the penalty.

The lack of a proven goal scorer once again left Town with nothing to show.
