Burnley’s Black Knights have another champion after the fighting fireman Stuart Gervaise proved too hot to handle for his younger rivals.

Stuart, now 50 was ready for a new challenge, so he enrolled in the age group of 42 years upwards, instead of 48 years and older.

And he recently won titles in the Continuous style and the Points style of kickboxing at 75 kg at the World Martial Arts Organisation British Championships at Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby, Warwickshire. In his own words

A delighted Stuart said: “Obviously I’m 50 ,but entered the over 42s ,although I could have entered the over 48s .

“I just needed a bit more of a challenge!”

Because of the wins, Stuart is now eligible to fight in the World Championships in the British team , at the same venue in Rugby, the Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre, over three days from October 16th.

Stuart trains regularly with his son Louis at Black Knights, and both are first class students.

Anyone interested in training with the Black Knights can contact Allan Clarkin on 07931635447.

The club train at Pentridge Mill, Holmes Street, Burnley, BB11 3BE near the Circulation Club.
