Five-star Colne progress in Emirates FA Cup

Colne progressed to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after an action-packed 5-2 win at Tadcaster Albion on Saturday.

The Reds went behind after only five minutes when Matt Heath headed a free kick into the top corner.

The Reds got back into the game after 28 minutes when Ben Allen was pushed to the ground in the area and Danny Boyle fired in the spot kick.

Tadcaster regained the lead two minutes later when James Beadle was tripped, and Liam Ormsby converted the penalty.

Colne levelled when substitute Kenny Taylor’s goal-bound shot was handled by Jordan Armstrong, who was sent off, and Boyle again scored from 12 yards.

Ben Hoskin fired in a 25-yard piledriver to put Colne 3-2 up after 73 minutes, and six minutes later, Tom Berwick’s cross was knocked in at the far post by Ben Allen.

On the stroke of full time, Anderson scored Colne’s fifth goalto earn a trip to Consett in the first qualifying round next Saturday.

Tomorrow Colne welcome Abbey Hey to the XLCR Stadium, before a trip to Padiham on Wednesday.
