Pendle Forest travelled all the way to Carlisle this week but struggled to get into their stride and put themselves under pressure early on.
Finally a breakthrough came when a through ball, into the circle allowed Karen Nuttall to put Forest into the lead.
Carlisle had chances of their own with one or two individual players up front causing problems for the Forest defence. They found the back of the net when one of their players connected with an early cross and slipped it past the keeper. In reply , only minutes later, Forest worked the ball up the field and Olivia Bythells (man of the match) shot edged Forest into the lead once again.
The ball rarely came over the Forest defensive 23-metre line in the second half. Carlisle continued to battle and make it difficult for Forest to find a way through but eventually Cathy Waters produced a third goal and through some sustained pressure from Bythell made the final score 4-1. Forest are at home against Formby on Saturday.
