Pendle Renegades enjoy eight-goal thriller
RENEGAGES welcomed their local rivals Barlick Barons to Sough Park in this fiercely fought contest.
Renegades were very slow out of the traps and a penalty saw the visitors take a 1-0 lead after only two minutes. Gaz Storey then made it 2-0 after 10 minutes when a fortunate deflection saw the ball land at his feet at the edge of the box.
This woke the Renegades up and they began to show their class with some neat football penning the visitors deep in their own half forcing corner after corner and eventually they got on the score sheet, Ian Livesey managing to scramble home.
Tom Hargreaves then scored his second in as many games. A pin point Lee Ashworth corner and Hargreaves did the rest with a good jump and header into the net.
More pressure followed and when Jay Wright was upended in the box he dusted himself down to despatch the resulting spot kick and turn the game on its head.
The second half saw more pressure from Renegades and when Jay Wright capitalised on a poor goal kick to make it 4-2 it looked like the game was won. Some 20 minutes from time though Barons grabbed a third and then the Renegades lost all shape and hit the self destruct button. With just three minute remaining Barons grabbed a deserved equaliser after heavy pressure and the game finished 4-4.
Jay Wright was man of the match for Renegades with Carl Ozadjenko grabbing the plaudits for the visitors.
