Sam Vokes is expected to miss Wales’ World Cup qualifier with Macedonia tonight with an ankle problem.
And Burnley will hope the injury doesn’t stop him continuing his prolific partnership with new England Under 21 cap Danny Ings at Ipswich on Saturday.
Vokes, 23, is likely to be ruled out of tonight’s game having only been able to participate in light training on Wednesday after suffering an ankle knock.
The severity of the injury has not been revealed, but Wales boss Chris Coleman hopes to have the eight-goal hit man available for Tuesday’s Group A game away to Belgium.
He said: “Sam’s a huge doubt. He has a problem with his ankle.
“I don’t expect Sam to be involved (tonight).
“He’s got a chance for Tuesday.”
But Burnley will hope Wales err on the side of caution, with hopes of reaching Brazil 2014 long gone.
The Clarets’ only senior strikers are Ings, who made his England Under 21 bow as a second half substitute for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling against San Marino last night, and Vokes, with Ryan Noble not considered a fully-fledged first team forward as he develops at the club following his release from Sunderland in the summer.
