Striker Marvin Sordell is thinking positive ahead of the new season.
Sordell scored his third goal in four pre-season outings to earn a 1-0 win at Blackpool on Saturday.
And the summer signing insists Burnley will go into the Premier League with no fear.
The former England Under 21 international said: “I’m really looking forward to it, it’s going to be exciting for us and the fans, and we just want to start fast and hard.
“You see how we play, we want to play on the front foot and go at teams and give it a good go.
“We want to play going forward rather than looking back, that’s the manager’s mentality, and it’s a good one to have, all the lads are on board and we’re going to give it a good go.
“The way to go and win games is with an offensive, forward-thinking mentality and that’s what the manager has installed in us, and it will stand us in good stead.”
Sordell endured a difficult time at Bolton after a £3.2m switch from Watford - where he worked under Sean Dyche, but he is enjoying life at Turf Moor: “It’s been good, I worked with him (Dyche) for a long time at Watford, and with Woany (Ian Woan) and Tony (Loughlan) as well, and I’m looking forward to it. There’s a very good group of lads as well.
“I’m just looking forward to hitting the ground running.”
Asked if Dyche can bring the best out of him again, he said: “Yeah, definitely.”
Sordell has competition for a starting slot, however, with Ashley Barnes fit again, joining Danny Ings and Lukas Jutkiewicz, with Sam Vokes’ recovery going to plan as well, and he said: “There’s a lot of competition in the squad, and the team, last season they had competition, and the standard of training rises, which helps the players that are playing, and those that aren’t.
“Everyone is consistently improving and we want to continue that, you get used when the manager sees fit, and training is to make sure you are ready when the opportunity comes.
“The manager has brought us on because he thinks we can add something different to the team, and we’ll be used when he sees fit.
“The lads did very well last season and have earned the right to play in the Premier League, and I just want to add to the group.
“We’re all excited and looking forward to it.”
