Town are teetering on the brink of the relegation zone after yet another defeat.
The game started well for Town, a bad mistake in the Congleton defence let Harry Thompson in, who had two bites at the cherry first forcing the ball past Congleton keeper Craig Ellison, then finding himself with an easy tap in to open the scoring after 16 minutes. The lead didn’t last long, poor defending letting in Ryan Allcock to equalise after 23 minutes.
Shaun Airey was then sent off for pulling back at Congleton player as he went throughon goal. The ref pointed to the spot even though the foul appeared to happen outside the area but justice was done when Taylor guessed right.
On 54 minutes Town fell behind when Paul Walker was too easily robbed of the ball allowing Daniel Ellis to easily put Congleton in front. Town were in with a chance of an equaliser four minutes later, Kieron Lee slipping the ball through for Simpson to run onto it, but under pressure he couldn’t get his shot away.
Congleton went further ahead after 68 minutes when top scorer Barlow drove the ball home from the edge of the Town penalty area making the final score 3-1.
