Barnoldswick Town maintained their excellent start to the campaign with four points over the week.
A 1-1 draw at home AFC Liverpool on Saturday was backed up by a 2-1 win against Padiham on Tuesday night, as Town completed a derby double over the Storks.
Town were on the front foot in the first half, without finding a way through, before, on the half hour, as Ben Gorman chased the ball, keeper Sean Davis came out and flattened him.
The force of his challenge took Gorman a yard outside the box, and the officials gave a free kick, and Davis just a yellow card.
Jordan Gidley twice saved with his legs to deny Padiham, but two minutes into injury time Town took the lead, as Gorman fired a great cross across the six-yard box, and Threlfall, coming in at the far post, hammered the ball home.
In the second half, Padiham began to run the game, but Town increased their lead against the run of play as a neat move between Threlfall and Joe Gaughan saw Gorman just get to the ball before the defence to force the ball home after 68 minutes.
Three minutes later, a Padiham corner was forced home at the far post by Tom Fowler, but Town held out for the remainder of the match.
There was a large crowd of 220 at the Silentnight Night Stadium on Saturday.
AFC Liverpool went ahead in the 21st minute, a long ball down the centre wasn’t cleared, allowing Ryan Cox to race through and slot the ball past Gidley.
Town equalised on 77 minutes when, from a Gorman corner, Shaun Airey dummied jumped over the ball at the near post, allowing Threlfall to lash it into the bottom right.
Town are at 1874 Northwich tomorrow, and AFC Darwen on Wednesday night.
