Ribblesdale League champions Barnoldswick trail leaders Clitheroe by 35 points after back to back wins over lowly Padiham and Euxton.
Imran Khalid was largely responsible for Euxton’s demise with 77 out of 156, before taking 8-45 as the home side were bowled out for 110.
The locals beat Padiham by 65 runs on Saturday at Victory Park, having set the bottom side a total of 198 to chase.
Padiham were 3-3 in reply, and though Kurt Robinson (65) and Anthony Hall put on 100, Barnoldswick bowled the strugglers out for 133.
Best batting performance of the weekend, and of the season so far, however, belongs to Earby’s Fahid Rehman.
The Pakistani run maker smashed an undefeated 186 out of 282-3 at Cherry Tree, with Andrew Jaggers adding 65.
That total was always going to be too steep for Cherry, who made 203 before being dismissed. Rehman’s innings came off 143 balls with 21 fours and eight sixes.
It proved a good weekend for the Applegarth club, who also beat Whalley by nine wickets after dismissing their visitors for just 80.
On Saturday, Barnoldswick are at Brooksbottom, with Earby at Ribblesdale Wanderers, with wickets pitched at 1-30 p.m..
