Pendle Vale College student Aneila Afsar has been selected to represent Great Britain at flyweight in the 2014 Taekwando World Championships in New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei in March.

The Year 11 pupil, who trains eight times a week, including 4 times over the weekend with the GB team and twice with Team Ultimate in Doncaster, will be in China for two weeks pending her competition matches which, will take place between March 26th and 29th.

Aneila will be using the time in China to acclimatise herself and focus on her upcoming matches.

She already has an impressive list of titles to her credit, including gold at the 2011 and 2012 British National Championships.

A Pendle Vale spokesperson said: “This fantastic achievement is nothing more than she deserves, and we wish her all the luck in the world.

“We are extremely proud of her and her achievements both in and out of school.”
