LAST Tuesday the ladies at Ghyll played their last trophy match of the season, the Centenary Trophy.
The winner was Barbara Chapman with 37 points, from Susan Tattersall with 35 points, and third was Hilary Hardaker with 33 points.
On Sunday the Proctor Bowl was played, and in at times, very wet and windy conditions, this was won by Jonny McGeachie, who knows the course quite well being one of the greenkeepers!
He recorded a great nett 67.
The Division Two winner with a nett 68 was Derrick Hartley, and the Division Three winner, with a nett 73, was Bob Presland - two people who continue to give their time and efforts to so many different aspects of a great club.
The previous day, the August Medal was won by Tony Stocker with 43 points.
Second with 40 points was Liam Bowditch Jnr, and third with 39 points was Jack Farnhill.
The same day, the Juniors’ Ouzledale Trophy was won by Adam Rowley.
Second was Brandon Cocker. Brandon, Ghyll’s Junior captain, clinched the Junior Order of Merit by five points from Emma Blades.
l AT Marsden Park, the Men’s August Medal was won by Jamie Lingard (71-8-63).
In second place was Adrian Lingard (70-5-65) on the card from Barry McWhinney (81-16-65).
Fourth was Stuart Mulligan (78-12-65), in fifth , after cards, Kingsley Thornton (83-15-68) and sixth Ian MacKereth (80-12-68).
Best gross was Adam Fothergill’s 70, on a card play-off.
The Ladies’ August Stableford was won by lady vice captain Wendy Brearley with 37 points, second Carolyn Murphy 35 points, and third Eva Pinder with 32 points.
The Junior August Stableford was won by Tyler Baxter with 39 points.
l NELSON ladies’ invitation day last Wednesday was won by S. Newton and K. Stanworth’s 43 points - two more than J. Aikman and J. Hoyle.
Third were L. Hepworth and C. Hunt (40) after cards from L. Duckworth and M. Topping and P. Burrows and A. Howorth.
On Thursday, the Medal was won by Kate Dennis (84-16-68) from Betty Dixon (91-19-72) and Gillian Blackadder (101-28-73).
The Woodward Cup saw Kate Dennis head the field with 178-32-146, three shots clear of Pauline Burrows (194-45-149), with Gillian Blackadder (205-55-150) third.
