Earby Memorial Bowling Club held the final of the Tomlinson Cup competition at Sough Park on Sunday.

The cup was originally held on the Barnoldswick greens, after being donated by Jack Tomlinson, a butcher in the town, and chairman of the Conservative Bowling Club in the 1940s.

Over the years, the bowling greens have gradually closed in the Barnoldswick area, which meant the future of the competition was unsure.

However, Lancashire County Councillor Keith Bailey, whose father was nephew to Jack Tomlinson, felt the competition should carry on, and so it has now moved to Sough Park for the future, and was sponsored by councillor Bailey this year.

Councillor Bailey was at Sough Park on Sunday to make the presentation to the winners.

The ladies’ cup was won by Jenny Whitaker, pictured being presented with her prize, and the Tomlinson Cup was won by Philip Johnson (inset).
