Former West Craven Warrior Alex Szostak has been selected for the Scotland squad for the forthcoming Rugby League World Cup, which kicks-off this weekend.
The 27-year-old second row forward, pictured after the recent friendly against Papua.
New Guinea, is currently at the Scotland training camp in Workington, preparing for the group C games against Italy and Tonga at Derwent Park, Workington on Tuesday and next Sunday, and the USA at Salford City Stadium a week on Thursday.
Alex is local to Barnoldswick, and started his rugby career at West Craven Warriors at the age of eight.
He has played professionally for Keighley Cougars, Bradford Bulls, Villeneuve Leopards and his current club Sheffield Eagles.
His daytime job, after qualifying in Biomedical Science at Leeds University, is as a genetics scientist at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
