Just over a month since fracturing his collarbone, Colne’s Steven Burke helped Ed Clancy, Owain Doull and Andy Tennant claim silver for Great Britain in the team pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championship in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, at the weekend.

The quartet blasted their way into the final, qualifying second in 3.57.717 before beating Germany in 3.55.207.

In the final, Britain took the lead after halfway, but finished in a time of 3.54.687 – which, while hugely encouraging, was half a second down on New Zealand.

Burke had suffered his injury on a training ride in a crash which also brought down Doull.
