COLNE’S Anne Bristoe has been selected to represent Great Britain at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Nevada, Las Vegas in November.

It has been Anne’s goal to make the event - which involves a 4km swim, 120km cycle and 30 km run - and she is thrilled to get the call: “It’s such an honour to wear the GB kit and on race day I will feel proud and very emotional.

“It has been a funny year with personal bests, below-par race results with an Achilles injury and reaching my goal of representing the country. At the moment I’m not back in full training mode as I don’t want to aggravate the injury, it’s a case of making sure I get on the start line.

“I have been fortunate to race in places such as Switzerland, Lanzarote and Abu Dhabi and seem to cope well with the heat, so I am looking forward to Las Vegas, but must make sure I follow my hydration and nutrition plan.”

Anne thanks coach Paul Mason, Team Tri UK and sponsors Gatorade, Foor, 2XU, Fizik, Met, Tri247.com, Sram, Newton, TYR, and Easton, with special thanks to partner Maurice and son Joseph.
