Pendle Olympic Gold Medal cyclist Steven Burke MBE and Trawden’s Paul Oldham have been named in England’s squad for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 26-year-old “Colne Cyclone”, who broke records in the team pursuit final at the Track Cycling World Championships in Melbourne and as part of the Great Britain Olympic team in 2012, is again expected to compete in that event.
Meanwhile, Oldham, who excelled in the third round of the MTB Cross-Country World Cup in Nove Mesto, in the Czech Republic, will ride in the mountain bike cross-country event.
The 36-year-old Hope Technology rider claimed his first ever National win last month after fending off Steven James and Grant Ferguson at the British Cycling MTB Cross-Country series second round at Wheal Maid in Cornwall.
The pair will form part of a 31-strong squad for the Games which begin on July 23rd.
