Pendle Forest made it two wins from two with a 5-1 win away at newly promoted Leyland and Chorley.
After a fast paced start from the visitors, it was Forest who opened the scoring early in the first half with a short corner finding its way to Freya Bythell who obliged by converting from a narrow angle at the back post.
The visitors didn’t need much time to double their lead as Lisa Crewe earnt a penalty flick when fouled in the D before stepping up herself to fire home in emphatic fashion.
The home side pulled one back early in the second half when Laura Kendall was finally beaten from a well constructed short corner but Forest went on top secure victory.
Crewe completed her hat-trick when combining with Freya Bythell with five minutes remaining while Kayleigh Vickers tapped in to an empty net from close range.
Elsewhere, a moment of madness for Forest’s second string cost them dearly as they lost 4-1 to Fylde.
Jayne Kirkpatrick had kept the visitors at bay with a string of fine saves but Forest eventually cracked under the pressure and conceded four times in quick succession.
Forest grabbed a consolation in the second half when Hayley Baines swept home Amanda Kidney’s penalty corner for her third of the season.
Finally, Forest’s thirds showed plenty of fight to earn a goalless draw with Fylde at Preston Sports Arena.
The First Division newcomers didn’t look out of place at all, though Jayne Kirkpatrick had to be at her best to keep the score level in the second half.
