A YOUNG sharpshooter is firing his way to the top of the clay pigeon shooting world.

In recent weeks 13 -year-old Joshua Bridges, of Foulridge, has become a real force to reckoned with and looks certain for a bright future in the sport.

He won the junior competition at the Lancashire Sport Trap Championships, Worsley Grange, on June 19th and a week later took the junior section at the Broughton Game Show.

On Sunday he travelled to North Wolds for a North of England qualifier where he was once again the top junior.

His proud dad Mr John Bridges said: “He’s been doing exceptionally well and we’re all so proud of him. He’s been shooting since he was eight years old and has been getting better and better. I really do think he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Next up for Joshua is the Lancashire Championships at Worsley Grange on July 24th before the British Open on July 31st.
