EARBY’S Lucy-Belle Williamson is fencing her way to glory, after winning yet another gold medal in London.

At only eight-years-old, the Gisburn Road Primary School pupil has had an incredible year of success, fencing in the National Leon Paul Junior Series, with competitions all over the country including Durham, Ashton, Cardiff, Camden, Watford and Portsmouth!

Having only started competing in February in the Under 9 age group, she has gone on to win three gold medals, a silver and a bronze.

Lucy-Belle trains twice a week at Skipton Fencing Club and is regularly seen practicing in the Gisburn Road Primary school hall.

The hours of foot and blade work and her constant dedication have thrust her into the top ranks for her age group.

With this latest win, against a tough competitive field, Lucy-Belle is now in second position for the 2012 Series.

Having started fencing when she was only six, Lucy-Belle now enjoys the strategy and the precision of the sport and the challenge of working out her opponents’ weaknesses.

Lucy-Belle’s aim is to one day fence at the highest level and next year will be competing in numerous national tournaments as well as regional competitions.
