IT was mother against daughter in the final of the Nelson and Colne Ladies’ Pool League Blind Doubles at the Alex.

Mother Karen Monk partnered Carol Ormerod, while daughter Andrea partnered Helen Kay in the competition, which sees names drawn out of a hat at the start of the season.

This was a fiercely contested final, and although Karen and Carol went on to win 3-0, the match was much closer than the score line suggests. The finalists are pictured, top (s).

The Mixed Doubles final, played at the Shooters, was also a family affair between Sam and Jordan Ellerton of Shooters and Sara Green and David Drinkwater of Alex.

Brother and sister Jordan and Sam Ellerton partnered each other, in a final which had to be postponed as Sam had a baby after the semi-finall!

The first frame was quite a tactical one, with both sides missing opportunities to take the frame early on, but was eventually won by the Shooters pairing.

The second frame was quick in comparison.

David had an unlucky in-off to give two shots to Jordan, who promptly cleared up.

The third frame saw Sara break and have a chance of an 8-ball clearance, but she was unlucky with the last red.

More tactical play followed, but it was the brother and sister duo who took the frame to win the match 3-0 and lift the title at their first attempt.
