Pendle Forest first and second team both endured a frustrating end to the first half of the season as both their matches, away at York and home against Garstand were postponed due to snow and ice.
Pendle Forest 3rds did manage a game though and recorded their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory away to Brookfields. – the goals coming from Katie Hobson (pictured) and Denise Tuck.
The game started very positively with Forest in command from the first whistle and it wasn’t long before Hobson put them 1-0 up when she finished a good move.
Some great passing down the right side with Abbie Hunter and Issy Hartley, led to Millie Stansfield finding space for a cross which Hobson swept home.
Forest were dominant and were creating chance after chance and but for an outstanding performance from the Brookfields’ goalkeeper could quite easily have been 4-0 up at half-time. As it was they were only 2-0 up as Denise Tuck converted a rebound from a short corner.
After the break again Forest continued to dominate but were unable to convert any of the chances they created.
Good chances fell to all the forwards and midfielders and the team were encouraged by the number of opportunities they were making.
Brookfields did score a breakaway goal late in the game to leave Forest facing an uncomfortable 10 minutes but they came through and were delighted with the result and more importantly their improved performance.
The last match before the Christmas Break is at Marsden Heights tomorrow where the the 3rd team play Lancaster Nomads in a cup fixture and are after revenge after being beat 2-0 a couple of weeks ago in Lancaster.
Start time is 1-30 p.m. and the 3rd team will also be wearing new hoodies provided by Loonie Juice Ltd.
