Pendle Forest go into the league season with confidence high after a 5-0 win at home to Formby in their final pre season friendly.

Both teams started with a high intensity, ensuring the ball went from end to end.

Forest went ahead when Lisa Crewe intercepted a pass, carried the ball into the D and netted with a reverse stick strike across the goalkeeper.

Forest went 2-0 up when Freya Bythell ran down the right and crossed for Dani Hornby to reverse stick pass into the net.

Forest quickly added a third with Hornby turning provider for Charlotte O’Brien to sweep the ball under the keeper to make the score 3-0 at half-time.

With a comfortable margin, it allowed Forest manager Scott Hornby to experiment with the formation.

Formby tired in the second half, and Forest added a fourth goal, with five players involved in the build up, allowing Crewe to shoot towards goal, with Freya Bythell touching it in.

Jan Cormack then played in Crewe for her second to finish the game 5-0.

Forest have their first league fixture tomorrow at Springfields at 3 p.m.

The second team played in a friendly tournament on Sunday at UCLan sports arena in Preston, playing out goal-less draws with Preston, Lancaster and Lancaster Nomads.

The seconds start their campaign with a cup match on September 26th at Lancaster and Morecambe.

The thirds have a friendly tomorrow at Garstang.
