Lisa Crewe hit four goals and Olivia Bythell helped herself to a hat-trick as Pendle Forest hammered lowly Wigan 10-0 on Saturday.

Forest extended their 100% start to eight games, stretching their lead in North Hockey Women’s League Division 2 North West.

Seconds into the game, Kayleigh Vickers was green carded for a mistimed tackle that saw her leave the pitch for two minutes. Despite being a player down, Crewe put Forest ahead with her trademark deceptive ball from a short corner.

Minutes later she threw the ball into the back of the net with a forceful shoulder-high strike for her second.

Karen Wignall netted the third after Olivia Purtill managed to skilfully pull the ball away from the back line.

This was shortly followed by Crewe completing her hat-trick just before the break.

Olivia Bythell scored the first of her hat-trick after sister Freya made a great run into space down the left and crossed for Olivia to deflect the ball into the net.

In the second half, player of the match Olivia Bythell dominated the midfield and was rewarded with two more excellent team goals.

Vickers then struck a fierce ball at goal, followed by Wignall bagging another, and finally Crewe got her fourth after a lifted ball into the D.

The first team play Ulverston at home at 11-30 a.m. tomorrow.

The second team beat Southport 4-1 after going behind, with goals from Judith Hind, Hayley Baines, Freya Bythell and Julie Portman.

They play top of the table Clitheroe and Blackburn away tomorrow.

The third string won 6-1 in Blackburn against Clitheroe, with Cath Hutchinson hitting a hat-trick.

Emma Ziegloser also netted two, with Diane McInnes Hutchinson rounding off the scoring. Player of the match was Amy Trickett.
