From the outset, it was clear that Cowling were going to have a difficult afternoon containing the strong Lions pack. After just five minutes play, on the back of a powerful run by Kiwi prop Caleb White, Luke Edwards crashed over.

Continued pressure resulted in another early try from captain Shaye McCullough. From the kick-off, the Lions executed a fine exit set, and a searing break from Will Holden was backed up by Jordan Lord, who handed off the full back to score under the posts.

The forwards showed that they were capable of some great handling with some clever interplay between Lord and Woodcock, with Woodcock stretching the lead to 24-0 before further tries from Pat Holden, on his debut, and Lord completing his hat-trick and more. Harlequins got onto the scoresheet with a try just before the half, to make the score at the turnaround 38-4.

The Lions started the second half where they left off. White scored again, before the home side went over for a couple of quick tries.

A fine backs move, topped off with an outrageous dummy from Zac Child, stretched the lead again. A well-deserved try by second rower Ash Nutall and another by McCullough topped off the scoring for Burnley and Pendle. The final score of the game was a long range effort from Cowling to make the final score 58-22.

Man of the match was Lord.
