THE Nelson Wheelers and Pendle Forest Cycling Club had their joint Hill Climb Championship on Sunday.
This involved two time trails up two of the area’s toughest hills on the same day.
The first lung-bursting effort was up the Salterforth Drag, and following a short transfer, the second event scaled Wheathead Lane in Blacko, the winner being the fastest overall rider over the two courses.
Hamish Graham of ASFRA RT took the lead after the first event, winning by a seven-second margin over Sam Boast of Cycle Sport Pendle.
Sam battled back up the second climb to swing things the other way and win by a good 18-second margin over the two events .
