Heald wins Captain’s Day at Gyhll Golf Club

BOB Bugler celebrated a very successful Captain’s Day at Ghyll, and he is pictured presenting the trophy to winner Matthew Heald.

The weather was great for golf and everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the winner.

Second was Rob Mitton, third David Cockell, fourth David Hartley and fifth Josh Riley.

The captain thanked everyone, especially his wife, for their support on the day, with so many people helping in different areas.

A big thank you, on behalf of all the members, and mentioned by so many people, was to the greenkeepers, for the state of the course which just gets better each week.

The juniors played for the Captain’s prize on the Saturday prior to the main competition on the Sunday.

Brandon Cocker was victorious, with Jack Cheetham in second place and the Junior Captain, Sam Bugler in third.

The ladies section played for the Marion Bateson Birthday Trophy last Tuesday.

It was won by Pat Parrington, second was Barbara Chapman and in third place was Lesley Nash.

The Ladies’ A team won their Yorkshire League Match 5-2 against a strong Doncaster team at home on Thursday, and will play Wetherby away next Thursday.

Meanwhile the B team had a very successful home win against the team from Lees Hall, winning 5-2.
