Former Colne Golf Club captain Steve Barnes, helped by fellow member Paul Heap, staged a sponsored golfing marathon to raise money for the handicapped son of bar popular lady Anita Jordan.
Steve, starting at 6am, covered nine rounds of the nine-hole course before his legs began to protest, and, with Paul, raised over £2,000 for his project.
Anita’s son Jamie Lee (17), of Waddington Avenue, Burnley who has cerebral palsy, was presented with a cheque for £1,500 to buy a powered seating system for his electric wheelchair. The remaining money raised, £560, was presented to Pendleside Hospice.
Golf starlet Adam Mujahid followed up his recent successes in the Drake’s Trophy and Peter Halstead Cup by reigning supreme in the Dave Frost Trophy.
The 11-year-old fired a round of 90-24-66 to top the pile ahead of Ethan Myers (103-36-67) and Harry Stanworth (78-9-69).
Meanwhile Adam’s brother, Muhammad, secured victory in the nine-hole competition with a round of 51-18-33.
