Miranda qualifies for Ponds Forge

Colne ASC’s Miranda Bower has qualified for the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events at the British Summer Championships which will be held in July at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.

Only the top 24 swimmers in each age group per event are entitled to compete.

Last month, two swimmers from Colne ASC took part in Wigan Swimming Club’s Starter Meet, held at the Life Centre in Wigan.

Danielle Baxter, swimming in the 13 years age group, finished third in the 100m Butterfly, eighth in the 200m Individual Medley, 200m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle, and ninth in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke.

Jac Smith-Shelley, swimming in the 11 years age group, finished third in the 200m Freestyle, sixth in the 200m Backstroke, eighth in the 50m Freestyle and ninth in the 50m Backstroke.

The Friendly League fixture away to Ramsbottom on Tuesday, May 12th, postponed due to School SATS Week, has been re-arranged for Tuesday, June 30th.

The warm-up will still be at 7-30 p.m. and there will be a coach provided.

The coach will leave the Pendle Lesiure Centre at 6-30 p.m.

Tomorrow sees a Micro League fixture at Pendle Leisure Centre, before, on Thursday, there is the Age Group Gala.
