Nelson Ladies’ mixed fortunes!

There were mixed fortunes for Nelson Ladies’ teams over the week.

The Scratch team played Penwortham at home and lost 5-0, but the Handicap team had a 6-1 win at home to Bury, while the Bronze team were away at Chorley, losing 3-2.

On the first good golfing day of the year, L. Grandfield, A. Green and M. Taylor won the team of three Waltz competition with 77 points.

Second was K. Dennis, A. Kendra and J. Aikman, missing out by one point with 76.

In the junior section, the Beecham Centenary Trophies were played for.

The 18-hole event was won by Jordan Isherwood, with a round of 96-32-64, from runner-up Louis Bancroft (88-20-68) and Matthew Halstead (80-11-69) in third.

And the nine-hole competition was closely-contested, with Jacob Thomason emerging victorious with a 58-23-35 - one shot better than Shay Walker’s 60-24-36, with Alex Townrow a further five shots adrift after carding 64-23-41 to claim third place.
