Pendle Forest beat Clitheroe 1-0 to extend their 100% record in North Hockey Women’s League Division Two North West.
From the whistle, Clitheroe set the pace, and a Forest defender was robbed of the ball and was lucky not to be punished when a shot flew over the crossbar at close range.
Midway through the first half, a right wing cross from Charlotte O’Brien was fired against the keeper’s pads by Karen Nuttall, but she swiftly followed up to score.
The game was then halted for several minutes when a timely display of fireworks, from a nearby wedding celebrated the goal!
In the second half, Forest keeper Laura Kendall - player of the match - made a crucial, reflex save whilst already down in defensive mode, ensuring victory for Forest.
Tomorrow the first team play Springfields in a top of the table clash.

Ten minutes in, Mawgan Naylor passed to Amy Trickett, who ran towards the base line and fed Judith Hind, who lifted it over the keeper.

Forest started well, but went 2-0 down, before responding well in the second half, pulling one back when Harriet Ashworth fired to Zoe Kidney on the right, who played an outstanding reverse stick sweep to Cath Hutchinson on the left, who slotted in.
