After recently impressing for England Whites in the Sainsbury’s Youth Games in Manchester, Pendle Forest’s Olivia Bythell is celebrating another national call-up.
On Friday, England Hockey announced the 2014 HiPAC (High Performance Assessment Camps) and Futures Cups Squads Lists, with Olivia named in the Pennine Pumas Under 18 squad.
The High Performance Assessment Camp takes place annually during October and is all about training.
In the Under 18 age group, players learn about the highs and lows of competition at the Futures Cup, which is a competition based on a Junior International tournament.
Two days of training/preparation are held in October prior to the squads coming together for the competition in Cannock, which takes place from October 30th to November 2nd.
Over the course of the last year, the 17-year-old has been completing an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence in Hockey - only offered to athletes who have the potential to represent their country.
She recently spent time on camp at Lilleshall with outstanding coaches, which culminated with her selection for the Youth Games.
This time last year Olivi earned a place in the Under 17 Pennine Pumas squad.
