Pendle Forest 1, York 2
Pendle Forest first team started 2012 with a rearranged game against York, going down to a narrow defeat.
Without having completed any training because of an early fixture, Forest knew it was going to be a tiring game.
Both teams started off on a fairly level footing, then well into the first half an overturned decision turned into a penalty flick for Forest, which captain Cathy Waters (pictured) converted into a 1-0 lead.
Ten minutes later York were awarded two penalty corners in succession, the second resulting in a goal to make the scoreline 1-1 at half-time.
After the break the teams were still level, but an opportune break down the left side by York wrong-footed the Forest defence and a good finish took them into the lead.
York pressed on and Forest made an important goal line save, but pressured too late in the day to have any chance of equalising, with the score remaining at 2-1.
The first team now play Deeside Ramblers at home tomorrow in a game they can ill afford to lose.
