GOALS from Charlotte Bickerstaffe and Rachael Nuttall gave Pendle Forest their first win of the season and a perfect start to 2011.
Forest started slowly, and for the first 10 minutes found themselves on the defensive.
But Durham were unable to create any clear cut chances.
Forest settled and then proceeded to dominate the rest of the half with Karen “Wiggers” Nuttall creating a number of chances, only to see shots go wide and saved by the Durham keeper.
Deb Bythell went close with a flick from a short corner that cleared the bar, but it was Bickerstaffe that broke the deadlock from a well-worked short corner that saw some slick passing inside the away side’s area.
But the lead didn’t last long as Durham themselves scored from a short corner.
After the interval, Forest continued to press and took the lead again when Rachael Nuttall scored with a shot from the edge of the area from yet another short corner.
Forest stayed resolute at the back to maintain their lead, while Judith Hind had chances at the other end to extend the advantage, but to no avail. However, Forest’s performance was rewarded with all three points.
Elsewhere, Pendle Forest 3rds played away at Bispham against Rossall and got themselves back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory.
Two goals from man of the match Dianne McKinnes either side of half-time were enough to secure all three points.
It was a result earned through grit and determination.
The first goal was the culmination of some good work down the right hand side between Mille Stansfield and Kath Hutchinson, before the ball was crossed in, where McKinnes was on hand to score after the goalkeeper had saved the first attempt on goal.
In the second half the goalscorer doubled her tally for the afternoon as she latched on to a great through ball from captain Lesley Davey and swept the ball home first time.
