PENDLE Forest first team played a Longridge team on Saturday who were newly promoted to the league this year.
Longridge started quite strong and soon forced a penalty corner, scoring in the first five minutes.
The Forest defence held Longridge for a while, with player of the match Kayleigh McKane showing tremendous legwork and tackling skills to keep the Longridge attack at bay.
However they took their second opportunity to score from a short corner with some deceptive stick work followed by a third goal shortly before half-time.
Pendle Forest (pictured) fought back well after the break with Sally Evans creating some good midfield breaks followed by some useful stick work from Hayley Baines but Forest still couldn’t break through the Longridge defence.
Longridge added two further goals with Karen Nuttall scoring a late consolation goal to leave Forest losing 5-1.
The team would like to thank Kimberley Thompson at Rootfiftytwo who sponsored today’s match ball.
The first team are at home to Crewe on Saturday.
Pendle Forest third team played at home against Fulwood this week and, despite dominating the match, came away with nothing.
Forest started strongly dominating possession but neither team managed to score in the first half.
They were made to pay in the second half when an attack from Fulwood, against the run of play, resulted in Kendall picking the ball out of the back of the net. They are away at Morecambe on Saturday.
Pendle Forest Vets team started slowly in the second round of the Vets Cup against Kirkby Stephen and towards the end of the first half conceded a goal after a penalty was not well cleared.
Pendle Forest could not manage to even up the scores during the second half and were disappointingly dumped out of the cup.
