FOREST were denied victory as Deeside snatched two late goals to claim a draw.
The locals started confidently, and after 10 minutes, Judith Hind put the ball in the back of the net from a cross from Millie Stanworth on her debut.
Five minutes later Deeside equalised after splitting the Forest defence.
Forest regained the lead when Karen Nuttall, after a quick free hit, drove into the penalty circle and finished by placing the ball past the keeper into the corner.
Some strong play again by Stanworth down the right then led to Forest getting a short corner, and when Deb Bythell’s shot was saved by the keeper, Hind was there on the rebound to claim her second goal.
The heat on the day affected Forest, and in the last 10 minutes, the pace of the game slowed down, but Deeside pressured the defence and gained two late short corners, putting one left of the keeper and the other was taken on a very tight angle to make the final score 3-3.
Pendle Forest’s second team had their second game of the season at home against a strong Witton Warriors team, who had actually defeated them in pre-season, so the girls knew they were in for a tough match.
Forest started off on the attack, and within 12 minutes they scored from open play with Cath Hutchinson netting a goal.
Forest dominated the first half and went in at half-time 1-0 up.
Witton Warriors came out strongly in the second half, but both teams were well matched in youth and experience, with each team enjoying good spells of attack.
Forest extended their lead six minutes into the second half with another goal in open play by Huthinson.
Witton forced 11 short corners but were unable to break down the Forest defence, with some excellent keeping from the returning Kat Gorman.
Pendle Forest were awarded a short corner in the 70th minute, and a straight strike from captain Janet Mitchell-Stanworth was deflected in by Amy Greenwood for Forest to win the match 3-0.
This week the second team face Springfields away in a match where both teams will be vying to remain unbeaten at the start of the season.
FINAL SCORE: Pendle Forest 3, Deeside 3
