Pupils from Pendle Primary School have sealed their place at this year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games County Finals at tag rugby.

The team competed against 17 schools from the Ribble Valley and will progress to the county final in Blackpool, where they will battle it out to be crowned Lancashire champions.

Pendle beat St Michael and St John’s RC Primary School to the top spot by two tries, while St Joseph’s RC Primary School defeated Brookside Primary School to snatch third place at the event, which was held at Clitheroe rugby club.

Jane Johnson, Ribble Valley school games organiser, said: “The tag rugby competition was a fast-paced event with great skill and sportsmanship on show from school pupils from across the Ribble Valley.

“A huge thanks to Clitheroe Rugby Club, Hughie and all those that helped host and referee the event, and to Peter Fletcher from the Ribble Valley Sports Department for his help on the day.

“A final thank you to our referees Phil Mills from Sale Sharks, Sean Riley from Colne and Nelson Rugby Club and Lewis from the RFU – your support was invaluable on the day.”

The county final will take place at Stanley Park on June 30th.
