Pendle shut out Ormskirk, winning 43-0, as they earned a fourth-successive win in Lancashire (North).
Straight from the kick-off, Ormskirk forwards carried the fight deep into Pendle territory, and continued pressurising them for the first 10 minutes without success.
Eventually Pendle managed to secure some possession and started throwing the ball around and making inroads into the Ormskirk half.
They finally managed to put a score on the board after 20 minutes when Caleb White crashed over after a tap penalty, and Shaye McCullough converted .
The score remained at 7-0 to Pendle going in at half-time.
The second half saw Phoenix begin to dominate, when Sonny Waddington counter attacked from the kick-off and floated a long pass to Alex Woodcock, who split the ‘Kirk defence and offloaded to James Redford, who scored out wide to take the score to 12-0.
Woodcock then scored a try of his own when Danny Rowland passed to him in space, and he beat three defenders to touch down, with McCullough adding the extras, making it 19-0.
Soon afterwards McCullough was on the scoresheet again after quick ball from Rowland from the scrum saw him finish between the posts, and convert once again.
By now Pendle had shifted into top gear and were almost scoring at will.
From the restart White drove deep into the opposition defence, brushing off tackles from five Ormskirk defenders to offload to Rowland, who then sliced through to add his name to the scoresheet.
Soon after Rowland added another try after collecting a long kick from Steve Kent and going over in the corner to make the score 38-0.
Pendle’s final score came when Liam Canning took possession in the home team’s 22 and ran the full length to score a superb solo effort in the corner, making the final score 43-0.
