Talented Nelson golfer Matthew rewarded for strong season showing

Two Nelson Golf Club Juniors were recognised at the East Lancashire Golf Association (ELGA)prize presentation evening held at Blackburn Golf Club last week.

Declan Buksh was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation for his excellent participation and performance in the team matches.

Matthew Halstead received a prize for finishing 9th in the Gross Order of Merit Table from the various ELGA Challenge Tour Competitions played during the season.

At Colne Golf Club, the annual three clubs and a putter competition was played on Saturday and was won with a tremendous score of 84-20=64 by Andrew Taylor.

In second place was Paul Tems with 81-12=69 while third place went to Nick Todd with 89-20=69.

On Sunday the 36 hole final of the club individual knockout, the David Fryer Trophy was contested between Andrew Kellet Stephen Reid with Andrew rounding off a successful season with another well earned win in a keenly contested match.

Ghyll Golf Club’s September Medal was won by Charlie Harling with 43 points. Second with 41 points was Steve Mortimer and third with 39 points was Andrew Gibb.
