Top boys win 20 medals at Blackpool Rocks gala

Barnoldswick brothers Benjamin Havers-Strong (11) and William Havers-Strong (9) were named top boy in their respective age groups at the Blackpool Rocks Level 3 gala.

Competing for Pioneer 79 swimming club, out of 27 events, the pair came home with 20 medals!

Ben’s results were: 400 freestyle first (4:57.35); 50 freestyle fourth (31.09); 100 fly first (1:15.43); 100 Breastroke second (1:32.35); 200 freestyle first (2:22:23); 100 backstroke third (1:17.75); 50 fly second (34.50); 200 individual medley first (2:43.92); 50 backstroke fifth (36.25); 200 backstroke first (2:42.41); 100 freestyle third (1:08.12); 200 Breastroke second (3:10.33); 200 fly first (2:47.19) and 50 Breastroke third (43.15).

William’s results were: 400 freestyle second (6:26.60); 50 freestyle fourth (36.59); 100 fly first (1:43.47); 100 Breastroke third (1:57.01); 100 backstroke fourth (1:33.09); 50 fly second (46.11); 200 Individual medley first (3:23.92); 50 backstroke third (42.79); 100 freestyle fifth (1:27.00); 200 Breastroke third (4:03.63) and 50 Breastroke fourth (53.95).

Ben will compete in the ASA North West Region Youth Championships this month in 400m and 1500m freestyle.

l At the Lancashire County Water Polo and Swimming Association’s Masters Sprint Meet 2015 at the Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool, Colne ASC’s Philip Croxall, in the 45 to 49 years age group, won the 100m Breaststroke, and was second in the 100m Individual Medley, 100m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke, and third in the 100m Freestyle events.
